golden milk latte

like a hug in a mug.

Whenever I feel a bit sniffly or feel a sore throat coming on I reach for some golden milk. If I feel like my allergies are getting the best of me I reach for some golden milk. Or perhaps I simply want to ensure a restful night’s sleep, still, I reach for some golden milk. This cozy beverage is so trendy! And usually I am weary of food related trends that seem too good to be true, but this one is quite harmless. Even if you don’t feel all of its health benefits, you still get the experience of slowing down, treating yourself to making a special drink, and at the end of it all you are rewarded with a mug full of warm, cozy, delicious golden milk.

And for those of you who haven’t tried golden milk yet, and maybe are a bit weary of drinking a beverage with an Indian spice that’s normally used in curries, don’t be! If this flavor experience could be personified, it would be a friend’s hug. The taste is similar to the ever loved chai tea. In fact when I want the golden milk experience but need a little caffeine boost, I toss in some black tea to the mix. That’s when you really taste the similarities!

TIP: I’ve made golden milk using powdered spices before, but the texture was a big turn off for me, it’s very gritty even with the finest of strainers. This is why I now only use the fresh roots, when you strain your beverage, you’re left with a velvety consistency!

Hope you all give this one a try, enjoy!
